Dartford Major Mixed Use Development Proposals Submitted

Contour Planning is pleased to announce the submission of a major mixed‑use planning application to Dartford Borough Council for the Westgate Development, Dartford.

The scheme delivers a balanced town‑centre neighbourhood with 69 new homes (a mix of houses and flats/maisonettes), around 1,871 sqm of flexible commercial, community and cultural floorspace (including artist studios and a potential small cinema/live music venue), and a new tree‑lined public square. The retained and sensitively restored Co‑op frontage is a focal point of the proposals, with the wider layout organised around intimate mews streets to knit the site back into the town centre and the nearby Westgate car park.

Contour coordinated a multi‑disciplinary project team to bring the scheme forward, working closely with architects, transport and drainage engineers, heritage and ecology specialists, acousticians, energy consultants and structural engineers.

We prepared the Planning Statement and the Statement of Community Involvement, managed the collation of technical reports, and steered the design through iterative pre‑application discussions. To support an efficient determination, Contour negotiated and agreed a Planning Performance Agreement with Dartford Council to formalise timescales and resourcing for the application process.
